Play Streets Launches in Wilmington

The City of Wilmington‘s Healthy Neighborhoods summer initiative called Play Streets had a soft launch near West Center City’s Rock Lot Saturday June 9, 2018. The event, designed to encourage kids and families to come out and play, featured hopscotch, cornhole, badminton, jump rope, football, chess, a book lending library, bananas and bottled water, a tour of a Saint Francis ambulance, Stepping Stones financial services, and super hero bandanas and masks. The upcoming Play Streets events for this summer are as follows:

  • June 18th, 900 Block of Elm Street, 6pm-8pm
  • June 19th, 5th Street between Church and Spruce Streets, 6-8pm
  • June 25th, Kingswood Community Center (2300 Bowers Street), 6-8pm
  • June 26th, Hilltop Community Center (6th Street between Van Buren and Jackson Streets), 3-5pm
  • July 2nd, 22nd and Lamotte Street, 6-8pm
  • July 3rd, 300 Block of 21st Street, 6-8pm
  • July 9th, 100-200 Block of Stroud Street, 6-8pm
  • July 10th, 500 Block of 23rd Street, 6-8pm
  • July 11th, 24th and Carter Streets, 6-8pm
  • July 12th, Central Baptist Church (8th and Pine Street), 6-8pm
